Spill The Tea

By Muranga’s Women Leaders

Hold onto your hats, folks! The women leaders of Murang’a County have been serving up some piping hot tea, and we’re here to pour you a cup. During a riveting “Purpose Driven Leadership” training conducted by the fabulous Njeri Kabeberi of Chapter Four Programs and Projects on May 5th and 6th, 2023, these powerhouse ladies let loose with stories that’ll make you laugh, cry, and maybe even stand up and cheer!

A Journey of Grit and Giggles

One leader, who we’ll call Mama Resilience, shared her rollercoaster ride to the top. “I went from flipping chapatis to flipping county budgets!” she quipped, sending the room into fits of laughter.

But it wasn’t all fun and games. These ladies faced more obstacles than a marathon runner in a minefield. From patronizing pats on the head to outright opposition, they’ve seen it all.

The Boy Child Conundrum

In a twist that surprised even the most seasoned attendees, our leading ladies expressed genuine concern for the boy child. “We’ve fought so hard for our girls, but now our boys are falling behind,” one leader mused.

The Elephant in the Room

As the training delved deeper, some leaders opened up about the wounds inflicted by the men in their lives, particularly fathers and father figures. The room grew quiet as stories of disappointment and betrayal emerged.

But in true Murang’a women fashion, they didn’t dwell on the negative. “These experiences made us stronger,” declared one leader, her voice ringing with determination. “We’re not just leading despite our past; we’re leading because of it.”

Balancing Act: Leader, Wife, Mother, Superhero

The juggling act these women perform daily would put a circus performer to shame. Balancing community leadership with their roles as wives? It’s like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube while riding a unicycle.

As the training wrapped up, the energy in the room was electric. These women, once isolated in their struggles, now stood united, ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead.

Njeri Kabeberi, the mastermind behind this transformative experience, beamed with pride. “These women came in as leaders,” she said, “but they’re leaving as a force of nature.”

And there you have it, folks! The women of Murang’a County: serving up leadership with a side of sass, and changing the world one laugh at a time. Watch out, world – these ladies are just getting started!
